About us

My name’s Matt Rigden, and I’m the owner of GreenCare Landscape Management — a small, independent, family-run grounds maintenance business based in Whitstable, Kent. I’ve lived in Whitstable all my life and now live on a smallholding with my wife and three children. We’re a very outdoorsy family, and I’m passionate about nature, wildlife, and spending as much time outside as possible.

I’ve spent my whole working life in this industry — starting out in landscaping, then moving into garden maintenance and studying horticulture at Hadlow College, where I also gained my NPTC chainsaw qualifications and spraying licences. From there, I went on to build GreenCare into a business focused on professional grounds maintenance and countryside services.

I enjoy the physical, practical side of the job and take real pride in looking after green spaces. GreenCare is run as a small team — I’m an owner-operator, out on the tools every day with my small, dedicated team, and my wife Joanne looks after the administration and day-to-day running of the business.

I have great relationships with all my clients — some of whom I’ve been working with for over 20 years. To date, we’ve never lost a single maintenance contract. I like to think we always go above and beyond to make sure the job is done properly, and the client is genuinely happy with the result.

Our business is small enough to care, but big enough to cope.
